Chiefs Have Easier Path Than Best Teams of the 80's and 90's

Dan Beyer: "You had about 3 or 4 great teams in the NFC in the 1980's, and now we're looking at a Ravens team that we thought was historically one of the best, looking very mid on a huge stage. I think that's what Kansas City does to you. There are no real challengers to Kansas City because of the parity in the NFL. There isn't that ability to build a rival, because it's very tough to match Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. I think that winning in the 80's and 90's was harder because, while you had a top-heavy league, you had more challengers for the top crown, and I just don't see that right now."

Dan Beyer and George Wrighster react to the Kansas City Chiefs returning to the Super Bowl. Dan breaks down why he believes the parity across the league creates a gigantic advantage for the Chiefs, blessed with the leadership of Andy Reid and the talent of Patrick Mahomes. Dan compares the Chiefs' reign of dominance to the great NFL dynasties of the 80's and 90's and breaks down how the path the Chiefs have taken to the Super Bowl every season lacks the same strength that we saw the best teams of decades ago have to work through. George, however, explains why he does not agree.
